Job Summary

You are an experienced cost coordinator with over 8 years of experience supporting all phases of cost accounting / coordination on commercial construction projects. Working closely with the project team, as a Project Cost Coordinator, you will provide technical and/or management support on cost code analyses and corrections, analysis of billings to clients, reconciliation of project commitments and subcontracts, and forecasting of costs ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Promotes a culture of health, safety and environmental protection on the project by taking an active role in the implementation of the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP) to achieve compliance of Ledcor HS&E standards, applicable OH&S Acts, regulations and codes
• Mentors and provides training to project team members on financial-related aspects of projects as outlined in Ledcor’s Construction Operations manual
• Performs general administrative and recordkeeping functions of project start-up systems and procedures including master filing system, selection of cost codes, project billings and cost accounting system
• Provides cost accounting support to Project Managers to ensure project milestones and completion dates
• Works with Accounting Lead to resolve discrepancies on Accounts Receivable / Payables
• Participates in project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to understand and help facilitate the tracking of project milestones and ongoing progression
• Tracks, conducts analysis and reforecasts direct project costs with Project Manager on a daily, weekly or monthly basis
• Assists Project Manager in creating a project budget with project / job cost codes based on work breakdown structure
• Works with Project Managers to forecast, analyze and reconcile monthly expenditures on projects
• Helps project team maintain, track and report financial aspects of projects including forecasts and billings
• Creates management reports to assess financial health of project, to include actual costs incurred, future costs to be incurred, and total estimated project costs as compared to budget. Present to project team in weekly meetings
• Assists project team members in creating purchase orders, reviewing terms and conditions, ensuring appropriate insurance certificates are requested and received, and ensuring appropriate lien administration
• May perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• 8+ years’ experience in project cost coordination / accounting within a construction environment
• Completed post-secondary education in Accounting, Construction, Cost Engineering or related discipline an asset
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders, anticipate stakeholder needs, and proactively identify solutions
• Knowledge of construction documents, practices and methodology
• Strong relationship building, communication and influencing skills
• Ability to motivate, coach, and guide other team members
• Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong computer and financial systems skills with an aptitude of learning new programs
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol requirements

Work Conditions

• Office based position with some travel to various project sites
