Job Summary

As a Swamper, you will be working with Hydro-Vac Operators to ensure the safe excavation of high pressured pipelines and utilities throughout Alberta. Join the Ledcor Pipeline Maintenance team in Spruce Grove, AB today!


• Working with Hydro-Vac operator and assisting with excavation of high pressure pipelines and utilities
• Assisting with completion of daily log book and inspections
• Performing general labor duties including sandblasting, hand exposing of pipe, pipe coating removal and replacement
• Assisting hydro vac operator with operation of Hydro-Vac truck
• Creating and reviewing Client Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
• Ensuring all work tasks and duties comply with the clients operating Procedures and Community, Safety & Environment policies,procedures and related legislation
• Traveling with operators and assisting them in their day to day duties
• Performing other tasks as required

• Ability to develop an understanding of company practices and procedures and apply them to site specific procedures
• Must demonstrate concern for people, utilizing effective interpersonal skills

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment while acting independently in the execution of excavation duties
• Ability to safely and effectively operate Hydro-Vac truck in tight and congested areas while excavating around hotlines and above ground structures
• Ability to perform physically demanding labor duties as required
• Ability to work shift work (9/5) away from home for extended periods
• Must have strong planning and organization skills
• Must be willing to learn and develop new skills
• Must possess a valid Class 1 license from a recognized provincial authority
• Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing

Work Conditions

• Travel extensively to work in various outdoor weather conditions
• Work with a small crew of 10 people
• Modified schedule (e.g. 9 days on, 5 days off)
