Job Summary

As the Junior Quality Control Coordinator you will be working on Alberta Infrastructure projects throughout the province. You will be responsible for basic surveying and conducting aggregate, geotechnical and asphalt testing procedures. You have previous experience in a construction environment with a basic knowledge of road construction. Join Ledcor's Highways Construction team in Edmonton, AB! This role is seasonal and involves extensive travel in Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Performing work in a safe and efficient manner and proactively participating and encouraging a positive safety culture
• Material sampling of aggregate and asphalt for quality control testing
• Performance of accurate quality control tests using industry standards to confirm the quality of the material tested
• Performing mathematical calculations of test results as well as plotting/presenting the results for comparison with standards and specifications
• Communicating the test results to managers, clients and subcontractors as required, ensuring that materials are properly handled and applied and that corrections in procedure are promptly made
• Maintain test and inspection instruments to ensure equipment is accurately calibrated and within tolerances
• Performs minor surveying for layout of survey baseline and roadway markings
• Inspection of stockpiling and placement of material ensuring quality procedures are followed
• May perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• 0-5 years related work experience or combination of relevant education and experience
• General computer skills including MS Office
• Strong communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form
• Knowledge of materials testing, surveying methods and equipment operation would be an asset
• Willingness to work co-operatively with others to achieve team goals and objectives
• Fit for lifting of material samples up to 20 kilograms to a height of 3 feet
• A valid Class 5 Drivers license

Work Conditions

• Position is field based with an undetermined work schedule
• This role requires working primarily outdoors in various weather conditions
