Job Summary


You are a health and safety professional with a passion in everything HSE. You will oversee the implementation of Ledcor’s HS&E policies, procedures and the preparation and execution of the Project Specific Safety Plan (PSSP), with adherence to all regulatory policies and procedures.

As the Safety Manager you will mentor, coach and supervise the Safety Leads and professional safety staff in their work. Responsibilities

• Develops and implements the PSSP (aligned with Ledcor’s HS&E program) to meet client and regulatory requirements
• Takes the lead in HS&E mentoring, training and coaching role of site's Operations personnel including subcontractors
• Works with and supports operations to achieve planned HS&E results and provides HS&E technical guidance to employees at all levels
• Reviews work plans for compliance with the HS&E program
• Manages performance of HS&E employees through goal setting, ongoing assessment, coaching, development discussions, etc.
• Track man-hours, TRIF, LTI and other KPIs as required
• Applies expertise to improve effectiveness of HS&E program and provide guidance to employees
• Provides advice to the Project Director on programs and tactics to enhance the HS&E culture, capability and performance within the Project
• Coaches, assists and supports site HS&E and Operations team members to understand client HS&E needs
• Establishes a continuous improvement approach to HS&E development on both new programs and existing programs
• Responsible for participating in the evaluation of subcontractors from a HS&E perspective
• Resolves HS&E issues through immediate actions or short-term planning (aligned with long term goals)
• Hire and develop Coordinators
• Represents Ledcor at client meetings on site level interfaces
• Able to manage difficult HS&E issues and influence for agreement, collaborates with others to adopt a point of view and ensures alignment
• Provides guidance and oversight for incident management on the project site
• Possesses a high level of experience in incident investigations, determining corrective actions and ensuring follow-up
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant industry Health and Safety experience in a leadership capacity
• Degree in OH&S or related discipline preferred
• Has broad knowledge in HSE practices, Health and Safety Management systems and experienced in managing HS&E auditing programs
• CRSP, CSP or other HS&E designation
• Technical / functional expertise is HS&E related to the project scope of work
• Fosters candid, open, honest dialogue both within HS&E and with Operations (including subcontractors) and senior management
• Able to influence work planning and execution by field/operations people as relates to achieving HS&E objectives
• Identifies opportunities to improve seeing them as challenges to overcome
• Dedicated to meeting requirements of internal and external customers; acts with customers in mind
• Is an active leader in following HS&E processes and programs towards exceeding HS&E goals

Work Conditions

• Some travel to site and/or office locations may be required
