You’re an experienced Sideboom Operator with previous experience in a tailings environment. You will be responsible for the operation of a sideboom, always maintaining safety as a top priority. You like a challenge in your line of work and are able to operate a sideboom in various terrain and a fast-paced environment.

Operate 561, 572, 583 and 594 models in order to move pipe, welding, and bolt-up
Effectively and safely operate hydraulic sidebooms utilizing machine specific controls and attachments to complete tasks including operating on adverse terrain, in winter operations, and/or near other equipment and power lines
Utilize sideboom in crowded, fast-paced working environments, and exercises extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety
Interprets verbal and non-verbal communication from operators, ground personnel and swampers, and acts accordingly
Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections and completes daily Field Level Hazard Assessments
Log and report any maintenance concerns with the equipment
Performs effective operation of equipment by recognizing unusual machine movements and sounds
May perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum 2 years’ experience operating sidebooms
Must be able to interpret capacity chart(s) and identify the rigging requirements
Must be able to understand the capacity of each component and the relationships between the length of the boom, length of cable, cable size and load limits
Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
Must possess valid CSTS .09 (Construction Safety Training Systems) certification
Must possess valid OSSA Regional Orientation or Basic Safety Orientation certificate
Must possess and maintain a clean driver’s abstract and valid class 5 driver's license
Ability to lift up to 50lbs, be physically fit, work at heights, be agile and able to go on/off equipment, up/down ladders
Charter flights available from Edmonton and Calgary for eligible candidates
This is a camp based position with accommodations provided
14/14 shift rotation working 12 hours per day
Work will be outdoors in rough terrain and under extreme weather conditions
