• Establishes control measures for impact of all environmental matters and related issues from construction activities in support of the project
• Ensures NEB compliance with regards to all environmental activities
• Responsible for building, mentoring, training and coaching the environmental team
• Performs Environmental Hazard Assessments and develops Safe Work Practices and Best Management Practices when required by project team or client
• Maintains a full understanding of the environmental requirements and compliance, including necessary permits and authorizations,
• Provides advice to the project supervisory team on the implementation of recommendations from any pertinent environmental documentation applicable to the project
• Liaises between the environmental team and the construction teams to address and resolve concerns and issues arising with regard to the execution of construction activities
• Develops the project environmental response team and ensure implementation of measures to protect the environment as indicated in the project specifications
• Liaises with environmental regulatory agencies and report non-conformances to the Company and appropriate mitigation is developed and implemented
• Works with clients, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, First Nations and special interest groups


• 20+ years of combined education and experience in the delivery and management of an environmental compliance program
• British Columbia or Northern Alberta pipeline experience a must
• NEB compliance experience mandatory
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
• Post-Secondary Education in one of the Earth Sciences disciplines (i.e. Biology, Geography, Forestry, Agriculture) or Diploma in Environmental Technology preferred
• Viewed as a mentor and expert in environmental programs, practice and regulations
• Able to influence work planning and execution by field / operations people as relates to achieving objectives
• Enjoys working hard - is action oriented and can be counted on to exceed goals successfully
• Identifies opportunities to improve and sees them as challenges to overcome
• Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements

Work Conditions

• This role is Edmonton based however travel to the field will be required
• This role requires occasionally working outdoors in various weather conditions
• This role requires occasional on-call work
• Applicants that reside in Alberta or British Columbia will be given preference due to the location of this project
