Job Summary


As an experienced executive, the Vice President, Telecom Engineering will focus on business unit growth, driving innovation as well as attracting highly skilled and motivated employees. Contributing as a member of the leadership team, you will have full responsibility for Ledcor’s recently created design and engineering team’s profit and loss, performance, safety, quality, contract delivery and cost effective management of engineering projects. You will oversee a team of 50 across multiple time-zones, and countries with a solid understanding of how to successfully grow the team significantly.

You will interact with key clients related to their communications/utility design and engineering needs, and are recognized as a subject matter expert in outside plant/utility construction and innovation leader across the industry.

Responsibilities

• Formulates, develops and implements strategies for sustainable business unit growth, focusing initially on Outside Plant (OSP) / Inside Plant (ISP) communications engineering for Fiber to the X (FTTX), Long Haul and Middle Mile projects
• Leads through others and manages deep technical expertise through complex teams of professionals
• Develops annual budget and is responsible for the P&L performance of business unit
• Ensures that the division meets the defined internal and external scorecard metrics and other targets in terms of quality, schedule and budget
• Monitors technological advances, emerging opportunities and trends in the sector
• Builds and maintains business unit resources (internal and external) at levels required to deliver forecast book of business annually
• Ensures ongoing employee development and engagement within team through implementation of Ledcor employee performance development and management programs
• Supports Ledcor Health and Safety professionals to ensure Ledcor’s Corporate safety program and policies are appropriately implemented across the team

Requirements

• Relevant Post Secondary education in telecommunications network design and engineering
• 10+ years of Senior Executive Leadership experience for an engineering team
• You have demonstrated success as a strong leader
• You are creative, entrepreneurial, decisive, self-motivated, and have experience prioritizing and organizing workloads across both internal and external teams
• Must be able to provide authentic leadership, mentoring and positive, constructive feedback to all team members
• You have built and scaled successful teams
• Expertise in design and build processes, including overseeing the process from inception to construction, for large programs
• Proven ability to plan and organize service delivery team workloads for multiple project deadlines and quality standards
• You have worked with strategic budgets and planning as well as overseen Profit & Loss management
• You have strong relationships within communications / utility infrastructure engineering sector and understand client core values
• You are an innovator across areas such as: business process, service delivery methods and technology application
• You are a change management expert, who has led & successfully delivered change programs to mid-large scale organizations
• Prior business development and marketing history for telecommunications design & engineering services
• The ability to juggle both commercial & customer focus while delivering to business requirements
