Job Summary

You are a seasoned Human Resources professional with over 10 years of experience working as a HR Generalist/Advisor. You will be responsible for the day to day delivery of human resources and labour relations services for a large scale project in the Lower Mainland, BC. Your primary role will be to facilitate a proactive relationship between management and employees and actively work with to maintain a strong working relationship.

• Works closely with Project and Operations Leadership to ensure the effective delivery of all HR services
• Provides direction, guidance and assistance to project staff on a wide range of human resource issues including: employee and labour relations, conflict resolution, performance and compensation management, employee retention and engagement and HR policies and programs
• Manages on-site employee relations issues for staff and craft employees, ensuring that they dealt with in a timely manner
• Provides day-to-day administration and interpretation of the collective agreement
• Communicates with other internal and external project partner HR/IR teams on any items related to the shared employees on the project
• Maintains data and reports on workforce-related information such as hires, transfers, disciplinary measures, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates
• Coordinates, organizes, directs and plans the workforce requirements including the training and labor relations activities of the project
• Works closely with the Community Relations representative for local community and indigenous hiring and training initiatives
• Develops, maintains and administers required human resource policies and procedures including those relevant to compensation, benefits, discipline and performance management programs, as they relate to the project
• Advises and assists management on all workforce and succession planning initiatives for the project, including transitioning employees on or off the project.
• Manages the Drug & Alcohol and fit-for-work programs for the project


• 10+ years of solid, generalist human resources experience, including labour relations (i.e. as HR Advisor, Consultant and/or Business Partner)
• Previous experience in a construction environment preferred
• Excellent time management and organization skills, with the proven ability to juggle and reprioritize based on project requirements, and to meet the demands of a high volume project
• Solid understand of collective agreements, and how they function within a unionized environment
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Must possess tact, diplomacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality
• Client-service focused, with a “we can help”, teamwork orientation

Work Conditions

• Project based, ability to work a schedule that may include weekend work
