Job Summary

As the Community Employment Specialist, you will be responsible for building and executing on the indigenous, local and regional recruitment and training plan for a large, complex project. You will work directly with Operations leaders, the Indigenous Relations team and the Human Resources team (Recruitment, Training) to ensure that all aspects of our hiring and training commitments are maintained. You will facilitate communication between the project, the local communities and other Ledcor departments.

Responsibilities

• Works with business leaders to understand hiring and training requirements
• Works closely with the recruitment team on the hiring process, including job postings, community outreach, marketing and communication
• Works closely with the Indigenous Relations team to ensure that our community outreach and engagement plan is being fully executed
• Works closely with the client representative to ensure Ledcor’s training and recruitment plan requirements are being met
• Coordinates and attends career fairs at various local communities, to promote job and training opportunities
• Leads and manages a team supporting community employment and training
• Identifies individuals for employment and assists them with the hiring/onboarding process
• Tracks and reports on the local hiring and training, communicates and shares information with project operations
• Identifies and develops training programs for local communities, working with 3rd party vendors or internal training resources, including apprenticeship opportunities
• Liaises with training team to coordinate and schedule training as per course and employee availability
• Gathers workforce requirements and schedules from site management and communicates to various groups; recruitment, accounting and administration
• Coordinates all hiring requests initiated at site and ensures timely communications of requests and requirements
• Works closely with the recruitment group to ensure that all hires meet site conditions (D&A, training)
• May perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• 7-10 years of experience in a HR Recruiting or Generalist role with exposure to recruiting
• Completion of a degree in human resources, business management or equivalent
• Previous experience in a leadership role
• Strong understanding of community and local employment practices, experience with indigenous communities an asset
• Strong ability to build relationships with multiple external stakeholders
• Demonstrated experience in a high volume, complex, dynamic environment
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with business leaders and others
• Strong presentation skills, ability to represent the organization in a professional manner with a number of different stakeholders
• Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, combined with experience communicating effectively with a diverse customer group
• Strong teamwork, organizational and execution skills
• Ability to work effectively in a high volume, fast-paced environment
• Easy to approach, can build rapport, practices attentive and an active listener
