Job Summary

You are an experienced Construction Manager who possesses the skills and abilities to successfully execute and complete large diameter pipeline projects, with crew sizes in upwards of 800 employees. You will provide technical and operational direction to project superintendents, ensure appropriate staffing levels, and provide supervision and guidance to site employees, ensuring construction operations are performed in a safe and efficient manner. This role is a key on-site liaison with client representatives, subcontractors, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Ensures pipeline operations are well organized and coordinated and comply with client and regulatory requirements
• Ensures project meets budget and timelines by reviewing work requirements, schedules, and cost reports and participates in project reviews and forecasting
• Analyzes technical construction issues and develops solutions to address issues
• Coordinates all resource requirements for projects including personnel, equipment, materials, etc.
• Maintains strong working relationships at job sites with client representatives, subcontractors, suppliers, and labour force
• Works with the hourly recruiting team to select qualified field personnel
• Supervises and develops personnel including conducting performance reviews and identifying training needs
• Participates in collective agreement negotiations and grievance process
• Ensures strict adherence to all safety programs and policies
• Participates in estimating and tender document preparation

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience as a Construction Manager on large mainline pipeline projects
• 10+ years of experience in pipeline construction with several years in a leadership
• Thorough and deep knowledge of the civil and mechanical aspects of pipeline construction including practices, contracts, processes and techniques in grading, welding and coating.
• Previous experience executing successful pipeline projects in mountainous terrain is an asset
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage changing priorities within multiple phase projects and a track record of successfully managing large, complex projects
• Excellent computer skills
• Ability to plan and manage to a project schedule
• Understanding of construction documents and the ability to ensure that they are complete, protect the owner’s interest, clearly define expectations, and provide incentive to perform
• Knowledge of pipeline construction costs and budgets
• A track record of building successful teams; effectively motivating people; and maintaining effective relationships with clients, owners, and consultants
• Ability to anticipate stakeholder needs, investigate the underlying causes, and identify short and long term solutions
• Ability to understand and present complex ideas, anticipate potential objections, and influence others to adopt a point of view
• Ability to facilitate, mentor, and move the team forward in conflict situations
• Ability to anticipate patterns, look beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications, and generate new solutions to complex problems

• Remote locations; Clearwater, Blue River and Valemount, BC
• Duration of project is 2 years
