Look no further... We are seeking a Director of Aircraft Maintenance to join our Summit Air team to support our flight operations based ideally in Yellowknife, NT or alternatively in Edmonton, AB.

• You are a driven leader that has a great deal of organizational savvy, knows how to develop and mentor talent, cultivates innovation, and communicates clear expectations to your team and is ready to champion innovate ideas
• Accountable for ensuring that Transport Canada and company regulations are adhered to at all times
• Ensures that all aircraft are airworthy prior to flight, and removes unserviceable aircraft from flight status, that all Flight Crews are properly qualified and trained in servicing and elementary work and that training records are maintained for all Flight Crew
• Leads, establishes and implements effective policies, work practices and procedures with effective management
• Ensures adherence to Transport Canada regulations for quality assurance within aircraft component repair activities, maintenance control systems and documentation, parts and materials inspection and other maintenance directives
• Coaches and mentors all maintenance staff to ensure they are kept up to date regulations and practices
• Provides regular performance planning sessions and staff reviews
• Manages the budget and performs forecasting, financial and longer-term planning for the maintenance function
• May perform other related duties as assigned


• Senior level aircraft maintenance professional with more than 15 years of experience of progressive leadership in fixed wing aviation maintenance, ideally with strong understanding of a variety of aircraft
• Deep subject matter expertise in Transport Canada regulations, aviation maintenance control and management mechanisms
• Demonstrated people and leadership skills; effectively able to influence, motivate and lead at the executive level, represent the company in interactions with business leaders and outside organizations
• Strong business acumen, demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budget preparation, and forecasting
• An effective communicator, with strong verbal, written and presentation skills
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to build systems and processes to drive operational accountabilities
• Demonstrated experience in change leadership
• Must possess a Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer M License (M1 or M2) and must have the ability to hold an ACA (Aircraft Certification Authority)

Work Conditions

• Focused on Northern Canada
• Based out of Yellowknife or travelling regularly to Yellowknife
• Regular travel to various bases of operations and corporate offices
• Office and operations oriented workload
