Responsibilities

• Supports Ledcor’s core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability and success
• Collaborate with Project Managers and clients to determine survey needs
• Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures
• Manages all aspects of survey control and measurement in a mining/heavy civil construction environment
• Oversees and participates in the preparation of computer generated maps, drawings and reports based on survey data
• Maintains accurate records, files and documentation including field notes
• Supervises, develops, and mentors direct reports
• Coordinates work activities internally to provide seamless project and client service
• Monitors and evaluates the overall performance of team members
• Conducts research into applicable surveying and mapping methods, using knowledge of techniques of photogrammetric map compilation and electronic data processing
• Determine specifications for photographic equipment to be used for aerial photography, as well as altitudes from which to photograph terrain
• Direct aerial surveys of specified geographical areas when required
• Perform boundary and topographic surveys in the field
• Establish survey project specifications; interpret and apply applicable state and local laws
• Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites
• Maintains site status maps
• Performs all month end volume and placement quantity calculations and reconciliation
• May perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Previous experience working in a mine or heavy civil construction environment
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience is required
• 2 years Survey Technician plus 2-5 years as a Survey Party Chief is preferred
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
• Ability to perform moderate lifting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time and working in all types of weather conditions outdoors
• Excellent understanding of GPS survey systems and survey and drafting software
• Strong computer skills with Carlson 3D, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Microsoft Office, Word and Excel a plus
• Skill in operating all survey instruments specifically and including Trimble GPS, Robotic Total Stations, Trimble data collectors, and automatic levels
• Working knowledge of GPS machine controls set up and configuration

Work Conditions

• Site based role, rotational shift will be assigned
• Travel to various sites is required
