Job Summary

You are a seasoned Recruiter with proven supervisory experience, and a solid track record of hiring within a high volume, complex environment. In the role of Recruiting Team Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the Trades Recruiters, whose mandate is to identify, coordinate, facilitate, hire and deploy our direct field labour force. You will collaborate with the Recruiting Manager and key business stakeholders to execute on recruiting activities, while leading the team to perform at an optimal level.

This position is a one-year contract role based in Edmonton, AB.

• Coach and mentor Trades Recruiters, including setting and monitoring standards and targets, ensuring optimum efficiencies for delivery of results
• Manage allocation of workload within the team and escalate issues as required in alignment with HR Service Centre requirements

• Engage with stakeholders to understand project site requirements, communicating and distributing workload among team members accordingly
• Manage team performance, including training and development, demonstrating people management and leadership skills
• Monitor performance metrics and reporting to optimize the recruitment process while ensuring exceptional customer service and candidate interaction
• Collaborate with Recruiting Manager and HR leadership to design and deliver candidate management strategies, including effective sourcing, hiring and onboarding
• Interface with Industrial Relations group to ensure adherence to current collective agreements
• Conduct day-to-day recruitment when required to meet the needs of high volume projects
• Handle escalations or team-related problems as encountered


• 5-8 years of recruiting experience in a fast paced, dynamic environment combined with previous experience in a supervisory role
• Post-secondary education in Human Resources and/or Business preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow through on assigned tasks
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
• Proven leadership skills, with an ability to effectively oversee and coach team members
• Strong sense of urgency with the ability to deliver results in a timely manner
• Excellent organizational and execution skills, and the ability to work in a high volume, dynamic and fast paced environment
• Strong computer skills; previous experience using an applicant tracking system
• Ability to work collaboratively with a dynamic, action-oriented team

Work Conditions

• Travel to various site based projects may be required
• This is a one-year contract position
