Job Summary

You are an Area Manager and are responsible for both the strategic and day to day business leadership of the Kitimat/Terrace/Prince Rupert area within the organization. As the Area Manager, you will be given the responsibility for the smooth functioning of day to day operations, up to a certain volume to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget. You may be expected to lead construction projects, guide project staff, and lead local and Indigenous engagement. You will implement the project plan and schedule, ensure safety and quality control, and delegate work to the project team, contractors, trades people, locals and the Indigenous community.

• Ensures that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes and that high-quality standards are maintained
• Leads project meetings with internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project’s on-going progression
• Provides strong leadership to construction team members, capitalizing on individual and group strengths to ensure project targets are achieved
• Identifies and manages opportunities and risks to achieve the best possible impact on schedule and financial targets
• Maintains, tracks, and reports all financial aspects of a project including forecasts and billings
• Develops, maintains, and drives the construction schedule in conjunction with project team; ensures project milestones and completion dates are met
• Provides support for strategic plans and implements manpower levels and material quantities and ensures proper equipment and trades are available as required
• Works with senior leadership to establishes business plan for designated local area and define opportunities
• Works with senior leadership to develop and deliver against a stakeholder engagement plan for all regions to ensure strategic, consistent, measurable and regular reporting of engagement with key stakeholders and communities
• Act as the key community liaison and maintain strong relationships with Owners/clients, Indigenous, local and regional communities, to ensure needs are met and ensure future business opportunities
• Work with Community Stakeholder Relations Manager to organize and facilitate consultation meetings, town halls, open houses and round tables within the community
• Act as a brand ambassador within the community
• Provides feedback to senior leadership team on key contacts and project status for projects in the regional area
• Engages in periodic contact with clients/prospects, exploring specific needs and anticipating new opportunities
• Manages and participates in client, community and professional events in order to promote Ledcor
• Works collaboratively with Ledcor Corporate and Contractors Business Development groups to share knowledge and ideas


• Demonstrated ability to build and foster effective relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders, in a matrix environment
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability to write effectively and present information to different audiences
• Strong computer skills including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Proactive, self-directed, self-starter and results oriented
• 8+ years of construction experience
• Experience working in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
• A self-starter with excellent organizational and planning skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
• Ability to appreciate the big picture, but also be highly detailed when required
• Excellent customer service focus and team player
• Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes
• Solid understanding of current construction practices
• Proven ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget
• Strong working knowledge of project management, contracts, document control, scheduling,cost control and budgeting
• Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders, interpret stakeholders needs, and identify solutions
• Capable of anticipating constructability issues in complex situations and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule; can influence and persuade others to adopt a point of view
• A track record of building successful teams and promoting teamwork through motivating, coaching and consensus-building
• Facilitation and mentoring skills—ability to move the team forward and resolve conflict situations

• Local based position, must reside or be willing to relocate
