• Advises, ensures and is responsible for the development and implementation of the HS&E program on project site(s) / business unit
• Coaches, assists and supports site HS&E and Operations people to understand HS&E policies and procedures
• Oversee and help coordinate all safety and health aspects for employees and subcontractors onsite
• Insure compliance with all MSHA/OSHA and state regulations
• Conducting and monitoring all aspects of HS&E training
• Conduct safety meetings
• Assist the Project Manager with incident investigations, site and regulatory agency inspections
• Maintain a good working relationship with project clients and customers
• Instruct employees in all required HS&E activities including MSHA new miner and annual refresher training
• When required, be able to travel to other mining projects


• 5+ years practical experience in the Mining Safety, Health and Environmental Protection field
• Demonstrated leadership abilities obtained from previous experience
• A thorough understanding and practical experience with MSHA regulations, documentation, and MSHA 30 CFR
• A current Mine Safety Professional (MSP/CMSP) certification and MSHA Instructors Certification
• The ability to effectively communicate and present information to the hourly workforce, while also effectively interacting with project management staff, clients, and customers
• Excellent verbal, written communications, and computer skills
• The ability to provide a proactive approach to safety, to include identification of operational and organizational issues, as well as develop and implement strategies to solve them
• Demonstrated experience in risk assessment, program development, safety & health training, and accident investigation
• A strong team player attitude with the ability to effectively adjust to changing priorities and demands
• Experience conducting Industrial Hygiene testing and sampling
• Must have and maintain a valid driver's license with clean abstract
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol and physical
• Successful criminal background screen may be required

Work Conditions

• Position will be based out of Reno, Nevada, however, the selected candidate may also be required to work project based roles in other locations
• May have to work varying shifts
