Job Summary
You are a Project Accountant with 2+ years of experience responsible for full cycle project accounting for specified projects in a high-volume work place. Through the application of policy, procedure, detailed work processes and best practices you will be a key member of the team driving to achieve desired financial results on construction projects. You will have experience with computerized construction financial accounting systems, and how to analyze and forecast construction costs.

Responsibilities
  • Analyzes financial data by compiling information via Excel and JD Edwards to assist with interpreting operations performance and objectives
  • Provides accounts payable (AP) support and tracking to various projects by ensuring invoice packages meet approval requirements; contacts vendors, investigates vendor inquiries, enters invoices, distributes AP cheques and reconciles monthly statements
  • Enters subcontractor progress payments in JD Edwards; coordinates the collection of documentation (such as lien waivers, certificates of completion, insurance certificates) required from subcontractors for release of payment
  • Enters subcontract information into JD Edwards and emails payment package to trade; prepares address book setups for vendors and subcontractors
  • Provides accounts receivable (AR) support by compiling owner billings, client invoice backup reports and AR aging oversight
  • Reviews and accurately completes credit applications in accordance with the Ledcor policy; returns approved credit applications to vendors
  • Prepares journal entries for review and entry into JD Edwards financial system
  • Assists project staff with accurate completion of purchase requisitions and purchase orders, ensuring approvals are in accordance with the Ledcor's Authority Matrix; updates purchase orders to reflect approved quantities, pricing and coding on packing slips according to authority matrix; matches purchase requisitions, purchase orders and receiving documents for entry into JD Edwards
  • May perform other related duties as assigned


Requirements
  • 2 + years' experience in a similar role with AP, AR and/or subcontractor progress billings
  • Experience within commercial construction or related industry is preferred
  • Completed post-secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration or Finance is an asset
  • Knowledge of JD Edwards or similar large ERP is preferred
  • Strong MS Office skills in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, results oriented
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; able to multi-task, maintain organization, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Proactive, self-motivated, problem solver and results oriented
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
