Job Summary
You are a Carpenter with commercial carpentry experience. Under the supervision and as directed by the Superintendent, you will be completing a variety of carpentry-related duties for the project.

This is a temporary full-time contract for up to 6 months.

Responsibilities
  • Comprehend blueprint readings to prepare layouts including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work, measuring and marking materials to avoid costly mistakes or omissions
  • Understand concrete forming and engineered forming systems to accurately build concrete forms, scaffolding, bridges, trestles, tunnels, shelters, towers, and other structures
  • Complete the following tasks: stain-grade trim work, hang doors, drill and set door hardware, set windows, layout for stairs and common rafters, read blueprints, utilize appropriate math skills
  • Check completed units to ensure that they are level, square, plumb, and the right size, shape, and location
  • Administer first aid services to all personnel on the work-site as necessary
  • May perform other related duties as assigned


Requirements
  • Minimum of 4 years' carpentry experience in a commercial or industrial construction setting. Red Seal Journeyman ticket is considered an asset
  • First Aid ticket (Level 2 or above). Certified Safety Officer designation (CSO or NCSO) is considered an asset
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol requirements
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision


Work Conditions
  • Site-based position
  • This role would require working outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Applicants that reside in Fort St. John and the surrounding area will be given preference due to the location of this project
  • This is NOT a camp-based position and accommodation is not provided
