Job Summary
The Fleet and Equipment Manager will be responsible for overall management of equipment used by Ledcor Technical Services (LTS). This includes the implementation of optimization strategies, developing continuous improvement strategies for asset utilization and maintenance, and implementation. The Fleet and Equipment manager has oversight of the LTS Fleet Team and their interactions with Ledcor LTS stakeholders and the Ledcor Equipment Group.

This role can be based out of Vancouver, BC, Calgary, AB or Edmonton, AB.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the LTS fleet (~1,000 light and medium duty vehicles) across North America
  • Responsible for a variety of construction equipment. i.e. Hydraulic excavators, loaders, dozers, directional drilling equipment, hydrovac equipment, etc.
  • Liaise with LTS business leaders to understand short-term and long-term demand and plan the number and type of fleet leases/purchases/rentals required
  • Monitor performance and manage strategic vendors to resolve issues, manage change, and ensure high level of service for Operations
  • Oversee and enhance equipment logistics, including transfers, deliveries and disposals, working with third party fleet services provider
  • Continuously improve equipment strategies (e.g. maintenance strategies and strategic replacement planning)
  • Develop, design and implement functional policies and program changes that make or drive changes in overall business processes, structure and performance, based on long-term needs
  • Track, report and forecast equipment metrics (including fuel consumption, maintenance spend, MVIs, asset utilization)
  • Acquire, analyze and interpret real-time fleet data utilizing in house and third-party provider tools to produce proper documentation/control and operational recommendations
  • Develop and implement KPIs that support continuous improvement and accountability
  • Identify and analyze equipment risks and generate contingency plans to ensure continuous smooth operations
  • Work closely with regional stakeholders and Ledcor Equipment Group to align equipment strategies with LTS operations and ensure operational needs are being met
  • Oversee and mentor staff with a current knowledge of all applicable federal/provincial government regulations, Transport Canada obligations, and safety policies
  • Mentor and guide Fleet team to meet Ledcor industry standards for safety, cost control and equipment availability
  • Research and implement innovative solutions and best practice improvements in LTS equipment
  • Develop a Ledcor LTS equipment business plan


Requirements
  • 10 years' successful experience in a corporate Fleet Manger or equivalent position
  • Demonstrated experience managing a fleet of 1000+ vehicles
  • Post-secondary education in a professional program
  • Previous experience in analytical and solutions-based roles
  • Certificate in fleet management or currently working towards certification
  • Experience as a change manager and/or change agent at a senior level
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, interact and influence all levels of management - from mid-level managers to senior executives
  • Excellent analytical, project management, communication and teamwork skills
  • Business focused and skilled in recognizing expense savings opportunities
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Excel, Word and Powerpoint); familiarity with J.D. Edwards would be an asset
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements in Canada and the United States (NSC, DOT, CVOR and FMSCA)
  • Ability to author corporate policy documents
  • Training and experience in change management and facilitation skills
  • Proven ability to mentor and manage a team of more 4+ members
  • Experience managing strategic fleet management vendors preferred
