Job Summary:
The Lead Fiber Splicer will perform fiber splicing supervision, and direct subcontractors with outside plant cable repairs. Additional responsibilities include installation, repair, configuration and testing of inside plant equipment; moves, additions, and disconnects on Fujitsu and Juniper products to support customer optical, and data services.Essential Responsibilities:
Provide a high level of customer service ensuring that any escalations or concerns are completed as requested and addressed in a professional and courteous manner
Test with optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR) and OLTS test sets.
Repair and maintain customer equipment to ensure optimal performance; includes mostly restoration activities but also preventative maintenance and installation activities
Effectively use hand tools and power tools in a safe manner
May perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
4 years of telecommunications experience or combination of relevant education and experience is preferred
Knowledge of outside plant (OSP) is required
Previous experience working in the field independently and thriving in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize workloads with little direction
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Proficient in Windows and MS Office environment
This role may require on call work for emergency restoration
