Job Summary:

The Lead Fiber Splicer will perform fiber splicing supervision, and direct subcontractors with outside plant cable repairs. Additional responsibilities include installation, repair, configuration and testing of inside plant equipment; moves, additions, and disconnects on Fujitsu and Juniper products to support customer optical, and data services.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide a high level of customer service ensuring that any escalations or concerns are completed as requested and addressed in a professional and courteous manner

• Test with optical time domain reflectometers (OTDR) and OLTS test sets.

• Repair and maintain customer equipment to ensure optimal performance; includes mostly restoration activities but also preventative maintenance and installation activities

• Effectively use hand tools and power tools in a safe manner

• May perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 4 years of telecommunications experience or combination of relevant education and experience is preferred

• Knowledge of outside plant (OSP) is required

• Previous experience working in the field independently and thriving in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated and able to prioritize and organize workloads with little direction

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Proficient in Windows and MS Office environment

• This role may require on call work for emergency restoration
