Job Summary:

As Ledcors new HR Business Partner you will work closely with the Director, HRBP & Manager, HRBP and have responsibility for supporting one or more operating group on a wide range of people related issues and programs, including the efficient and effective execution of enterprise-wide HR programs and local people initiatives.

In your new role you will partner effectively with the broader HR team to ensure consistent delivery of overall HR services. The HRBP will proactively engage with people leaders to build strong trusted relationships and credibility, both personally and for the HR function, and ensures a smooth flow of services and the identification of needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance and assistance to all employees and managers on a number of human resource issues including employee relations, conflict resolution, performance and compensation management, harassment investigations, reductions in force, and HR policies and programs
  • Serve as a change agent by influencing key stakeholders in support of organizational needs
  • Act as a liaison with HR Shared Services to ensure the delivery of support to exceed internal client needs
  • Partners with the recruitment team to identify recruitment strategies, gather workforce requirements, obtain feedback and facilitate the recruitment and onboarding process
  • Monitor workforce engagement for trends that require action to ensure high employee morale and retention
  • Leverage HR dashboards, reports and data to drive business decisions and tactics
  • Works with managers on a number of performance issues including coaching on performance improvement, documenting performance and behavioral problems, preparing corrective action plans, and termination documentation where required 
  • Support execution of employee performance programs and expectations to maximize workforce productivity
  • Collaborates with other internal HR professionals on any new initiatives and leverages their expertise in delivering and implementing functional initiatives to the client group
  • Builds and manages effective partnerships with peers other stakeholders with respect to existing and new initiatives
  • Communicates, facilitates, or presents HR programs and initiatives at the divisional or site level
  • Consult with business leaders to provide advice and guidance regarding the interpretation, of labour legislation and the  administration and implementation of the approrpaite legilsative requiremtns and conditions
  • Administer external & internal wage and benefit surveys involving hourly employees
  • Research & conduct comparative analysis of hourly wage rates and other specific project related documents to arrive at usable market data
  • Contribute to the documentation of various scheduled reports including but not limited to turn over rates for both staff and hourly employees, reasons for leaving etc
  • Research grievances, labour relations standards and other work related legislation
  • Travel to various locations will be required

Qualifications:

  • Degree (or diploma) with a focus in human resources management; or educational equivalent
  • More than 5 years of solid, complex and professional-level generalist human resources experience (i.e. as a HR Advisor, Consultant and/or Business Partner); which includes experience in working with business leaders in a consultative capacity
  • Experience supporting business units across multiple states and jurisdictions in the US, with a thorough understanding of the variances in employment laws and requirements
  • Experience in the Construction/mining sector use to working with the craft hourly either in a Unionized or Non-Unionized sector
  • Ability to utilize effective strategies to build respect and trust with employees and leaders
  • Solid understanding of applicable employment and human rights legislation
  • Solid understanding of HR processes and programs, ability to effectively educate leaders and employees on impact and value of HR services
  • Skills in conflict resolution and relationship management. 
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the proven ability to juggle and reprioritize based on dynamic organizational demands
  • Effective oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong customer service and partnering orientation
  • Must possess tact, diplomacy, and the ability to maintain confidentiality
