Job Summary:

The Equipment Superintendent provides in-field, hands on day-to-day support to operations, ensuring the maximum availability and uptime of fleet vehicles and equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Fleet & Equipment Manager and other Equipment/Fleet personnel ensuring safety and reliability of fleet of vehicles and equipment is managed effectively
  • Ensure that all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is completed on time, according to specifications
  • Ensure maintenance documentation is neat, concise, timely and follows Ledcor’s document flow process
  • Maintain optimum utilization of fleet and manage third party rentals and assist with the mobilization and demobilization of vehicles and equipment
  • Work with local suppliers to support operational needs with regards to fleet up time
  • Understand and is part of the process for payment of invoices through proper coding and issuing of purchase orders

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience with fleet maintenance of vehicles and equipment
  • Relevant industry experience (telecommunications / pipeline)
  • Familiarity with DOT guidelines and regulations
  • Technical expertise / proficiency in vehicle and equipment systems, and trouble shooting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent negotiating and problem-solving skills (working with internal clients and external vendors)
  • Knowledge of LD & HD vehicles and heavy construction equipment, and their applications
  • Strong Maintenance, Maintenance Planning and Work Order practices background
  • Have a basic understanding of NSC/DOT guidelines, and their applications
  • Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and clean drivers abstract
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
  • Good computer background including some experience with MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook, and familiarity of JD Edwards
  • Ability to learn and understand OEM software programs
