Job Summary:

You are an estimating professional with 10+ years of experience working on multi-disciplinary commercial construction projects. You will support estimating activities involved in preparing hard bid, conceptual through to Class A estimates, cost plus, and design build estimates for multiple project type.

** This position reports to the Vancouver, BC branch. Candidates who are applying from out of province must be able to work independently with minimal supervision as this is a remote position (WFH). This role requires travel to and from Vancouver on a bi-weekly or monthly basis depending on the needs of the business**

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Produces quantity take-offs for all areas of the estimate while ensuring the take-off is well notated for hand-over to the project team and includes safety and security requirements required by Ledcor policies and applicable legislation 

  • Interfaces and communicates effectively (written and oral) with the estimating team, with all levels of management, clients and industry contacts; contacts and develops business relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing estimates and budgets 

  • Is actively aware of costs related to own work and associated projects, provides input to the estimating team on all financial cost matters; reviews bid / tender documents and assesses potential risk 

  • Provides clear direction to estimating team members and distribute workload to capitalize on individual and group strengths while ensuring balanced exposure to work experience and development opportunities. 

  • Supervises the solicitation of trades regarding bid invitations, pricing, addenda, and tender/bid closings. 

  • Supervises quantity take-offs for all areas of the estimate while ensuring the take-off is well notated for hand-over to the project team and includes safety and security requirements required by Ledcor policies and applicable legislation. 

  • Applies knowledge and skills through the handling of complex problems and shares expertise with the estimating team in an ongoing effort to develop, recommend revisions and implement procedures, standards, rules and regulations.  

  • Evaluates and presents or supports the presentation of estimate proposals. 

  • Attends major trade pre-award meetings as required 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 10 years of estimating experience preferably within Commercial and or Residential construction.

  • Design- Build/P3 estimating experience is considered an asset.

  • General Contractor and or Cost Consultant experience is preferred 

  • Completion of post-secondary education with a diploma or degree related to Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering, or related education 

  • Understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess the level of completeness. Knowledge of construction costs and budgets, ability to develop a project schedule 

  • Strong computer background including experience with MS Office and related estimating software; knowledge of On-Screen Takeoff (OST) an asset 

  • Ability to work in a team environment; able to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure 

  • Ability to identify problems/issues; looks beyond the immediate problem and more broad items to generate possible solutions 

  • Capable of adapting information/style to the audience; explain difficult information clearly and influences and persuades others towards consensus agreement in straightforward situations 

  • Willing to enhance safety, promote teamwork, engage in continuous learning, and guide internal and external stakeholders
