Job Summary:

The Drafter is responsible for creating detail designs, drawings, and other technical information for use in construction, using CAD/Arc GIS software. This individual will prepare diagrams, maps, layouts and review rough sketches based on LTS line of business.

  • Creates detailed and precise technical drawings using CAD software.

  • Ensure the drawings are accurate and complies with the design intent and project requirements. 

  • Collaborate with Project Team and clients to interpret concepts, project needs, and relay technical information through drawings.

  • Assist with making revision or updates to drawings based on feedback from clients or changes in design specifications.

  • Creates as-built drawings, which document the actual construction and any deviations from the original plans.

  • Perform regular quality control and field checks of construction and inspections.

  • Ensure current OSP design principles and industry standards are following updated Safety Codes, Electric Codes, Customer Practices and Procedures.

Technical knowledge/Skills

  • Strong computer skills with an aptitude for learning new programs; working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or GIS, and MS Office

  • Ability to work with rough sketches and specifications.

  • Working knowledge of construction or telecom documents, drawings, specifications and current construction practices and methodology

  • Able to communicate clearly and collaborate with multiple project stakeholders and interpret their needs.

  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Experience

  • Experience working in OSP telecommunications or related field a Plus.

  • Experience working as a Surveyor, Mapping Technician or Designer is a Plus.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Arc GIS required.
