Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant is an integral member of the Properties Finance Team and will assist in the day-to-day accounting of development properties, income-producing properties and Flight Center. In addition to involvement of operational accounting, this position will assist with management reporting and financial analysis. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Finance. Ledcor Properties works collaboratively in a team structure, and the Senior Accountant will also work closely with the COO, VP of Finance, and Director of Joint Ventures and Partnerships. The Properties division is currently undergoing substantial expansion, and roles have the potential to evolve accordingly.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries for significant development project transactions, including master land cost allocation, sales, costs of sales, and income property transfers
  • Review journal entries completed by corporate accounting or junior accountants
  • Generate standalone and consolidated financial statements for tax and partnership reporting
  • Support the creation of working papers for annual financial statement audits
  • Assist in the maintenance of the master cash flow.
  • Review proformas and job cost reports for accuracy
  • Conduct variance analysis and ad-hoc financial analysis
  • Assist with the condo sales closing process
  • Review and approve rent and sales invoices, specifically for Flight Centre
  • Review and approve payables postings to ensure accounting accuracy
  • Create and manage loan schedules and property summaries
  • Coordinate loan interest payments and other significant transactions
  • Prepare monthly progress draws for quantity surveyors or bank lenders
  • Compile financial reports for the monthly development reporting package to partners
  • Assist in the preparation of Power BI dashboards for senior executives
  • Contribute to the preparation of bi-annual budgets and five-year forecasts

Qualifications

  • A Forward-Thinking Approach
  • Possession of a recognized accounting designation
  • A minimum of five years of comprehensive accounting experience
  • Experience with both residential and commercial portfolios is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and working with accounting software

Work Environment

  • This position currently offers hybrid work options, splitting time between working from home and the office
