You have extensive highways maintenance experience with strong leadership skills. Your safety-oriented approach, organizational skills and heavy equipment knowledge contribute to the overall success and safety of your colleagues and the travelling public. You have or are willing to obtain an AZ or DZ license and a desire to work for an industry leading employer and great community-minded organization. You will be responsible for winter and seasonal maintenance of Ontario highways using various heavy equipment.

Essential Responsibilities  

  • Lead daily tasks including safety toolbox meetings, equipment inspection, and road condition inspection reports
  • Lead the planning of work to meet contractual milestones with support from the Shop Supervisor  
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by each crew  
  • Operate equipment on work sites as needed  
     

Qualifications  

  • Must possess or be willing to obtain a valid Class AZ or DZ driver’s license, and must have a clear 3-year driver's abstract 
  • Must have knowledge of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications  
  • Must have professional written and verbal communication skills  
  • Must be approachable, ethical, and accountable  
  • Previous supervisory experience in a related field Snowplow and loader experience is an asset 
  • Computer skills are an asset  
  • Help ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly  
     

Work Conditions

  • Applicants that reside in the Goulais River and Batchawana, Ontario areas will be given preference due to the location of the work
  • As we respond to various weather patterns, some shift work, on-call, and night shift will be required
