Job Summary:

You are a Project Coordinator with experience in open pit mining. As the Project Coordinator, you will be reporting directly to the Project Manager and Pit Superintendent to assist with daily management and support of mining operations. You will attend morning line out meetings, and be a part of daily reporting, safety inspections, client meetings, bidding of new projects, and general day-to-day mine engineering duties. You are a problem solver and continuously look for innovative solutions that can be utilized on projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform general administrative and recordkeeping functions including the review and distribution of documentation; preparation of correspondence and meeting minutes, tracking of project milestones and financial deadlines, maintenance of files, logs, drawings, and specifications
  • Support the (sub) contract management process through the tendering and awarding of work or supply materials, assistance with the review and processing of invoices and progress claims, and assistance with the review of documents and inquiries
  • Manage the change order process by securing pricing from the vendor/subcontractor, reviewing, and inputting the data and submitting the change request to the owner/consultant for approval
  • Facilitate the tracking of project milestones and financial deadlines; assistance with the creation of the project schedule; inputs and updates schedule throughout the project and reviews with Project Manager/Superintendent
  • Facilitate the review and distribution of drawings by following up with the trades/consultants; maintains the drawing log and drawing/sample transmittals
  • Coordinate the request for information (RFI) process, ensures RFIs are distributed to affected trades and maintains RFI logs and binders

Qualifications

  • Must have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in mining
  • Must have a degree or diploma in Mining or relevant coordinating experience.
  • Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook. JD Edwards experience would be an asset.  Scheduling software experience would be an asset
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, confident interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, able to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines

Work Conditions

  • Applicants that reside in Reno, Elko, or surrounding areas will be given preference due to the location of this project
  • Site based role, rotational shift will be assigned (if rotation and shifts are not known)
  • This role requires occasional on-call work
