Job Summary:

Ledcor Highway Maintenance has year-round seasonal career opportunities with the highway pavement marking team. With contracts at least seven years in length, Ledcor offers you the chance to make long-term plans while being part of a great team dedicated to safe operations.

You have extensive paint truck operation experience with strong leadership skills. Your safety-oriented approach, organizational skills and heavy equipment knowledge contribute to the overall success and safety of your colleagues and the travelling public. You will be supporting the Foreperson and highways maintenance crews.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day operations of the pavement marking crews, including conducting daily toolbox meetings, worksite inspections, worksite observations, development of corrective actions, and interventions on unsafe acts or conditions
  • Support the Foreperson in organizing daily work programs and work assignments, including accurately forecasting needs and requirements
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by the crew
  • Daily operation of equipment on highways and work sites
  • Consistently support and demonstrate Ledcor’s core values of safety, quality, integrity, sustainability and success. Lead by example and ensure that safe work practices and procedures are constantly followed.
  • Lead, mentor and develop other team members, while leveraging individual and group strengths to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly
  • Regularly inspects equipment and ensures the preventative maintenance schedules and requirement are followed. Communicate repair work to his/her supervisor or equipment manager.  Ensure that minor equipment maintenance is performed in-house and identifies all other work as approved

Qualifications

  • 2 or more years of highway pavement marking experience
  • Knowledge of paint truck operations, loading procedures and maintenance
  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Possess a valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license with air endorsement, and must have a clear 3-year driver's abstract
  • Knowledge of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications
  • Must have professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous supervisory experience in a related field
  • Computer skills are an asset

Work Conditions

  • Travel, Shift work, on-call, and night shift required throughout operating months
  • RRSP and Benefits provided
  • Work will be across Alberta on Provincial and Municipal highways
  • Seasonal positions available year-round
