Job Summary:

You are a safety-conscious Asphalt Plant Foreperson with at least 3 years’ of experience supervising crews. You will be working with our Highway Construction crew throughout Alberta on various paving projects. You are a team player who ensures the well-being of others and lends a hand where needed. This will be a full-time seasonal position and Ledcor will help support your on-going employee training and career development in our diversified company. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate ability to manage Asphalt Plant safely and effectively
  • Ensure regular equipment maintenance is completed
  • Monitor operations to ensure consistent production and be responsible for completing daily checks and maintain plant logs
  • Must lead and comply with Ledcor’s Health & Safety programs
  • Supervise daily operations to ensure the safety of the crew, facility, environment, and members of the public
  • Manage resources, equipment, labour, and contract truckers to perform highway construction activities efficiently
  • Plan and prioritize work to meet contractual milestones
  • Liaise with quality control supervisor to ensure quality objectives are met and to ensure compliance with contract specifications
  • Inspect equipment regularly and ensure preventative maintenance schedules are followed
  • Lead daily safety toolbox meetings with the crew and ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience managing an Asphalt Plant
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to provide a valid driver’s abstract
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of leading a team
  • Ability to incorporate health and safety concepts into work activities
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Mechanical inclination would be a definite asset

Work Conditions:

  • This position is likely to run from May to November 2024
  • Candidates must be flexible to work on projects throughout Alberta
  • Shift rotation working 10-14 hours per day. Candidates must be flexible regarding their shift schedule to work nights and overtime
  • Living out allowance of $135.00 per day is provided
  • Benefits and RRSP provided
  • Preference for those with an RV or trailer, camp area with hookups provided
