Job Summary:

Summit Air is hiring for a full-time permanent Maintenance Planner to join the team on a full-time permanent basis. In your new position you will report to the Maintenance Controller, and be responsible for performing maintenance planning activities for the Summit Air taking into consideration operational requirements, staffing, budgeting, and other projects.

In this role you will collaborate closely with various department to create effective maintenance plans while adhering to regulatory compliance and operational requirements.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Forecasts and develops the long-term and short-term projections for maintenance planning with a goal to minimize impact to the operations and take into consideration the impact to staffing levels, budgeting, and other projects
  • Coordinates the acquisition of parts, materials and tooling as required by maintenance operations
  • Performs schedules and builds work packages for maintenance tasks, airworthiness directives, service bulletins and Supplemental Type Certifications (STCs)
  • Coordinates administrative control over maintenance planning, including budgets, forecasted hours, and job costing
  • Coordinates and communicates with Operations to ensure sufficient operating hours and the scheduling of aircraft out of service
  • Ensures all scheduled maintenance is completed within allotted timelines
  • Supports the maintenance team with the application and control of minimum equipment lists (MELs), deferred defects, and monitoring of recurring defects

Qualifications

  • A College, Trade or Technical Diploma in Aviation/Aircraft Maintenance is preferred
  • 4+ years of Aircraft Maintenance is preferred, but strong maintenance planners will also be considered
  • Previous maintenance planning & supervisory experience preferred
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance schedules, including maintenance planning documents, schedule approvals, and airworthiness limitations
  • Proficient computer skills with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), aircraft and inventory tracking systems
  • Proven ability to identify and implement improvements to processes, and increase efficiency
  • Familiarity with budgeting and job costing highly preferred
  • Task-oriented with an excellent sense of priority, logic and objectivity; highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities

Working Conditions

  • Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm shift time
  • On-Site in either Edmonton or Yellowknife locations
