We are looking for enthusiastic and team-oriented people to join our team that helps keep our Alberta provincial highways safe. You have extensive highways maintenance experience with strong leadership skills. Your safety-oriented approach, organizational skills and heavy equipment knowledge contribute to the overall success and safety of your colleagues and the travelling public. You have a Class 1 or Class 3 license and a desire to work for a community-minded organization. Essential Responsibilities  

  • Lead daily tasks including safety toolbox meetings, equipment inspection, and road condition inspection reports
  • Lead the planning of work to meet contractual milestones with support from the shop supervisor  
  • Ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly  
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by each crew  
  • Operate equipment on work sites as needed  
     

Qualifications  

  • Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing 
  • Possess or be willing to obtain and maintain a valid Class 1 or 3 driver’s license and provide a 3-year driver's abstract 
  • Knowledge of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications  
  • Has professional written and verbal communication skills  
  • Is approachable, ethical, and accountable  
  • Previous supervisory experience in a related field, snowplow and loader experience are an asset 
  • Computer skills are an asset  
     

Work Conditions

  • Applicants that reside in Glenevis, Mayerthorpe, Stony Plain, Drayton Valley, Leduc, Warburg, Fort Saskatchewan, Morinville, Alberta may be given preference due to the location of the work
  • As LHL is obligated to respond to various weather patterns, some shift work, on-call, and night shift will be required
  • Benefits & RRSP to be provided  by CLAC
