Job Summary:

The Deputy Systems Manager is an experienced Light Rail Systems Manager responsible for overseeing the design, procurement, and installation of rail systems. Reporting directly to the Systems Manager, the ideal candidate has a strong background in urban passenger rail construction, with specific expertise in Traction Power Systems, Communications and SCADA Systems, Signaling Systems, and Overhead Catenary Systems. This role ensures the successful delivery of light rail systems projects and achieve client satisfaction. You are a problem solver and continuously look for innovative solutions that can be utilized on projects.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Technical interface management of the design process for use in procurement & construction
  • Management of procurement and installation contracts required for rail systems
  • Liaising with the client and other key stakeholders
  • Management of a team of coordination staff in delivering all phases of the rail systems installation
  • Creating and leading meetings as required to coordinate technical, commercial and administrative tasks
  • Change Management and configuration management
  • Familiarization and usage of project data management systems

Qualifications

  • Background in urban passenger rail construction required - ideally 3+ years in light rail and 5-10 years’ experience in commercial or industrial construction with systems related experience.
  • Specific experience with Traction Power Systems, Communications and SCADA Systems, Signaling Systems, Overhead Catenary System and other Wayside Systems preferred
  • Experience with progressive design process required
  • Experience with construction procurement required
  • Experience with commercial or industrial construction safety programs required
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma related to engineering, technology, or computer science, or sufficient work experience in a related field is a requirement
  • P. Eng or PMP certification is considered an asset in this role
