Description

You are a seasoned Senior Equipment Manager with 10+ years of experience within the heavy equipment industry. You will work under the direction and guidance of the General Manager, Equipment Assets and will be responsible for the management of equipment, health and safety of the maintenance technicians, financial management and ensuring the maintenance program is followed.

You will manage the Highway Maintenance Equipment Superintendents and support the Highways Maintenance Operations Group by ensuring Ledcor’s snow and ice fleet is maintained in a fiscally responsible manner while ensuring equipment safety, reliability and availability.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and manage members of the Highway Maintenance Equipment Team by providing strategic direction, mentorship, and ongoing support and performance management
  • Oversee the Equipment Maintenance Group to ensure the equipment maintenance program for the business unit is followed. This will include the fiscal and quality management of the plan and ensuring environmental stewardship
  • Consult with the Highway Maintenance Operations Leadership to identify and assess current equipment and maintenance needs and requirements by conducting regular meetings with the various stakeholders
  • Manage the operational priorities and alignment of strategic direction for equipment management across the business unit
  • Anticipate and identify operational challenges and recommend solutions
  • Responsible for the highways’ maintenance equipment budget as related to the mobile equipment
  • Establish and develop strong relationships with external vendors and suppliers to source new products and technology, gather market information and to find alternative more cost-effective sources for part

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with equipment management, with preference for experience in the snow and ice industry, as well as experience with commercial and heavy construction equipment
  • 10+ years experience dealing with equipment OEMs and venders
  • 5+ years managing equipment fleets with over 100 production units
  • 5 + years of experience managing staff and craft employees.  Experience with managing a unionized craft workforce
  • Knowledge of the National Safety Code
  • Strong leaderships skills as well as verbal, written and communication skills
  • Strong technical skills including experience with MS Word, Excel, and Enterprise Resource Programs (ERPs) such as Oracle JDE or SAP
  • Experience with running work order and maintenance programs
  • Ability to build relationships, is team orientated, personable and able to influence key stakeholders
  • Strong financial management and budgeting skills

Work Conditions

  • Monday to Friday
  • Role is based in Leduc; however, travel to other Ledcor offices and client locations will be required
