Description

You are an HVAC Labourer (Swamper) with 1-2+ years of experience in underground utility construction, working on Outside Plant (OSP) telecommunications projects. You will support the hydrovac operator in safely and efficiently excavating soil, assisting with HVAC installations for telecom infrastructure. Additionally, you will perform general labour duties, work alongside the crew, and ensure job sites are restored properly, all while maintaining strict safety standards under the direction of the foreman.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist the hydrovac operator to ensure smooth and safe hydro excavation for underground HVAC utility construction.
  • Support HVAC equipment installation in telecom network sites.
  • Perform general labour tasks, including excavating pits, rod and rope conduits, placing underground cables, and assisting in directional bore operations.
  • Help remove and replace concrete and asphalt as required.
  • Conduct regular vehicle maintenance checks and complete associated paperwork.
  • Keep crew vehicles clean and organized at all times.
  • Operate equipment and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Ensure job sites are restored to their original condition after work completion.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment for crew members, the public, and Ledcor.

Qualifications:

  • DZ driver’s license is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in underground utility construction, civil construction, HVAC installations, or landscaping is an asset.
  • Ability to read underground telecommunication plans and work maps is an asset.
  • Experience operating and maintaining mini excavators, skid steers, and backhoes.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Technically adept, with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Clean driver’s abstract.

Working Conditions:

  • Applicants that reside in Bellville, Ontario will be given preference due to the location of this project
  • Some travel will be required to site and/or other office locations
  • Working outdoors in various weather conditions
