Job Summary
The Director, Finance has strong business acumen, can see the forest for the trees and is a strong collaborator and partner with operations. The ideal candidate drives relentlessly for optimal business outcomes, provides financial leadership and insightful analysis that derives wisdom from the data. The Director, Finance is forward thinking and acting and ensures the business has the information needed to make well informed decisions in a timely manner that align with strategy. They provide leadership and career development across multiple project accounting teams and support groups.

Responsibilities
  • Through insight and analysis helps to identify opportunities for profit maximization and cost savings
  • Identifies and creates informative metrics, reports and analytics that drive business decisions and outcomes
  • Drives the strategic development of KPIs and dashboards
  • Participates in and provides support for pricing and bidding new work
  • Partners with the business to help build up financial acumen of operations and non-financial managers
  • Oversees operational budgeting, forecasting, business plans & reporting for the Ontario and Eastern operations
  • Reviews and oversees creation of monthly business unit operational and management financial reports
  • Responsible for leading and developing individuals within the divisional and project accounting teams
  • Drive continual process improvement and works to close any gaps in financial understanding within the business unit
  • Provide analysis and support to senior leadership to ensure understanding of operational results and financial implications of business decisions
  • Ensures controls in line with divisional and corporate policy are in place for each project undertaken by the business unit
  • Collaborates with the management team to gather, analyze, and prepare recommendations regarding financial requirements, operational forecasts
  • Oversees team that prepares and ensures high quality delivery of daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting


Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a finance related role
  • Previous experience in a management/leadership role
  • Proven analytical skills and demonstrated operations, accounting, and business process experience
  • Strong knowledge of project controls and project accounting
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate, coach, and mentor team members
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including relationship building, influencing and facilitation
  • Experience with JD Edwards or other large ERP system
  • MBA or Professional accounting designation (CPA or equivalent)
