Job Summary
You are a Locates Coordinator with 1-3+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry, specifically providing locating support to an operations team.   • Reviews current job log and follows up on any missing items within the life cycle (e.g. permits, locates etc.)
  • Books locate meetings for locate companies and internal parties (Coordinators, Field Managers, and Operations Managers); verifies that all new locates that have been received are accurate and ensures that no utility paperwork is missing (when required, request missing information)
  • Attends site meetings with locate companies to ensure correct areas are being marked and escalated; completes locate mark-ups while in the field
  • Escalates all outstanding locates to locate supervisors and calls in emergency locates as required
  • Acts as the on-call locates person for field foreman to have re-marks completed or where required, have a private locator come to site
  • Prints and creates locates packages for coordinators to review
  • Accepts work from customer via email or portal and updates/tracks all new work with customer in Excel, CRM, and/or other database software
  • Conducts weekly update calls and face to face meetings with management and customers; establishes best dates for field scheduling and updates current status of all projects
  • Submits WIP reports and applications for permits and locates
  • Checks that any work being issued to a field foreman has valid permits, locates, and other required information
  • Orders material and cable from the customer for new job sites; reviews the customers' network plans and ensures they are correct
  • Verifies and processes all new billing
  • Works closely with the field manager to ensure project due dates are met or exceeded, customer complaints are confirmed and addressed, and billing is being processed once project is closed
  • Logs all important dates (i.e. job received, locates submitted, locates completed, job scheduled, job completed etc.)
  • May perform other related duties as required

  • 1-3+ years of experience in an underground utility coordinator position (or a line locating role), preferably in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Capable of reading underground telecommunication plans and work maps
  • Familiarity with protocol and practices of large telecommunications providers in the Ontario market
  • Well versed in Microsoft Office (intermediate to advanced user of Excel), SAP, or other project tracking programs
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, combined with a positive attitude
  • Flexibility to work on an on-call basis, as needed
  • Clean drivers abstract
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements
