Job Summary
You are a GIS Specialist with 6+ years of applied experience in the use of Geographic Information System (GIS) in the Esri ArcGIS environment. In this diverse role, you will support the GIS Manager with business development needs, completing GIS tasks, mentoring staff and completing QA/QC, technical writing, and supporting other department needs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead client meetings, providing demonstrations on GIS technology and assessing needs
  • Research GIS technologies and workflows and where required, deploy test environments
  • Provide quality audits for GIS deliverables
  • Mentor and lead GIS staff for short term project needs
  • Provide technical support in resolving issues
  • Design and publish web services using cartographic and data management skills
  • Support the technical standard documents with writing and review
  • Manage geospatial data including sourcing data, editing data, and documenting the structure and process
  • Create, maintain, and analyze both spatial and non-spatial data in a variety of platforms, including ArcGIS and various graphics packages
  • Work independently and as part of a larger GIS team delivering geospatial solutions and support
  • Be an advocate of GIS within the group and the greater company


Requirements
  • GIS Degree or GIS Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • 6+ years of related experience in the use of GIS, including spatial data processing, publishing web services, thematic mapping, database management, projections and datums, and knowledge of relevant software tools
  • Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS 10.x and of ArcGIS extensions including but not limited to 3D Analyst, ArcToolbox
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Online and web-based Esri tools including Collector for ArcGIS, Survey123, Dashboard, Web AppBuilder for ArcGIS
  • Experience with technical writing for a variety of audiences
  • Experience with 3D GIS modelling including ArcScene, ArcGIS Pro 3D scenes, Revit, BIM-GIS integration
  • Experience with databases such as MS Access and SQL Server
  • Experience with data schemas and/or data dictionaries
  • Experience in FME Workbench, AutoCAD and MicroStation is an asset
  • Member of Professional and Technical Societies is an asset
  • Experience with telecommunication or linear based projects is an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a changing environment
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol and background check requirements
