Job Summary
The LTS Group is currently seeking a Contracts Manager for a project with a large Ontario-based Telecom service provider.

You are a Contracts Manager with 5-7+ years of experience managing all contract and engagement activities with clients and subcontractors. In this role, you will take the lead in reviewing, negotiating, drafting, and interpreting agreements and related tasks to identify and mitigate business and contract risks. You will manage any third-party legal issues, as required, and will be required to address and resolve contractual issues as they arise, including ascertaining the cost and schedule impact associated with claims for extension of time loss and preparation of financial claims. Furthermore, you will be required to apply dispute resolution techniques to complex contractual claims and apply extensive knowledge and experience to guide the teams during the claims and dispute resolution processes with clients, subcontractors, and third parties.

  • Ensure proper handling of contracts, support documentation, bid scopes for subcontractors and related files
  • Create scopes of work to articulate the work activities, SLA's, pricing and safety requirements that all subcontractors (individuals and/or businesses) must adhere to while working for LTS.
  • Review and track subcontractor onboarding documents, including insurance documentation, performance bonds, labor and material bonds, to ensure they are complete and meet the contractual requirements
  • Prepare and communicate change notices and change directives, amending agreements and potential claims, when needed, with internal and external stakeholders
  • Address and resolve contractual issues as they arise including ascertaining the cost and schedule impact associated with the contractual issue, including claims for extension of time, loss and preparation of financial claims
  • Participate in the resolution of client, and subcontractor claims and disputes
  • Ensure all documentation including all standard agreement templates are completed with each subcontractor
  • Engage with, and provide stewardship to, project teams involved in the negotiations, the formation and administration of the Prime
  • Contract, sub-contracts and purchasing process
  • Lead internal self-audits and continuous improvement of contract processes and procedures
  • Quality review of work performed by subcontractors
  • Work with subcontractor to develop performance improvement plan to address issues
  • Review and signoff subcontractor invoice for compliance with contract requirements
  • Assist legal in the development of project specific sub-contract agreement templates (work orders)
  • Review sub-contracts and associated documents, and ensure flow down of Prime Contract terms in all subcontract and purchasing commitments, scope of work and pricing are reasonable
  • Report to the Legal team on contracting and risk issues where significant legal implications arise from the contracting process, and help as required
  • Prepare all insurance claims and manage the claim process

  • 5-7 years of extensive Telecom contracts management experience with a strong focus on contractual interpretation, dispute resolution and claims processes
  • Completion of post-secondary education with a diploma or degree related to Business administration, Finance, Commerce, Legal or related field
  • Construction or Telecommunications experience is advantageous, and time spent at a law firm will be beneficial
  • Strong legal skills, including excellent drafting, negotiation and attention to detail
  • Understanding of subcontractor contract resolution processes
  • Experience with negotiating and resolving contractual risks and recommending mitigation practices
  • Ability to identify problems/issues and generates solutions and proposes solutions using standard procedures
  • Excellent written and communication skills

  • Strong customer service ethic and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong computer background including experience with MS Office
  • Travel to various sites
  • Telecom project experience is an asset
