Job Summary:

You’re an Estimator with 2 - 4 years of experience working in multi-disciplinary commercial construction projects. You will perform quantity take offs, cost analysis, sub-trade negotiations, competitive bid management and document control. You will be involved in estimating activities which will include preparing hard bid, cost plus and design build estimates for projects.

Upon completion, Zibi will be the only One Planet Living (OPL) endorsed community in Canada and will include the region’s first zero-carbon district cooling and heating system.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and coordination of quantity take-offs under supervision
  • Solicits subcontractor and supplier pricing quotes, under supervision, and administers subcontractor database.
  • Communication with sub-trades to ensure understanding of scope of work
  • Assists with development of the estimate.
  • Responsible for Bidding, Budgeting, Estimating, and Tendering for Lump Sum, Design/Build as well as renovation projects
  • Role will also include the provision of pre-construction services and compilation of sub-trade tender package
  • Working as part of the project team, we will teach you the “tools of the trade” to develop your estimating career

Qualifications:

  • Experience 1-3 years estimating retail, residential and ICI projects
  • Post-secondary education with college diploma or degree related to Construction Management, Quantity Surveying and/or Estimating
  • Ability to work from first principles
  • Understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess their completeness
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and estimating specific hardware
  • Knowledge of the local market would be a definite advantage
  • ​Ability to work effectively within a team
