Job Summary:

You are an experienced Industrial Construction Foreman

who is skilled at mentoring others to ensure the smooth functioning of day to day operations. You will be responsible for implementing the field aspects of the agreed upon project plan and schedule, which includes: quality control, safety and the delegation of work to field staff, contractors and trades. You will drive accountability among your crew and ensure that safe work practices are implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and provides direction to a crew on specific work tasks and deliverables
  • Ensures that site safety measures meet or exceed the parameters set out by corporate safety manual, Workers’ Compensation Board or any other authorities
  • Provides mentorship and coaching to hourly employees as required to complete the project in consultation with the General Foreman or Superintendent
  • Assists with maintaining, approving and submitting hourly time cards with all necessary details for job costing purposes
  • Ensures that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications and applicable building codes and that efficiency in labour and materials maintain high quality standards
  • Reviews, maintains and updates the construction schedule and ensures milestone and completion dates are met
  • Interfaces with other site personnel, clients or contractors
  • Maintains a daily log
  • Reviews subtrade/supplier invoices against the field purchase orders and report any discrepancies to the Project Manager or the accounting department

Qualifications

  • Several years of experience managing multidisciplinary trades on large industrial projects
  • Must be able to complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
  • Trade certification and relevant experience
  • Experienced with industrial construction methodology and practices
  • Ability to plan and manage to a project schedule
  • Understanding of industrial documents and the ability to ensure that they are complete, protect the owner’s interest, clearly define expectations and provide incentive to perform
  • Knowledge of construction documents, costs and budgets
  • A strong safety record and the ability to work with a variety of individuals
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others

Work Conditions

  • Applicants who reside in Fort McMurray will be given preference due to the location of the project
  • This is NOT a camp based position and accommodations are NOT provided
  • 14/7 shift rotation working 10-12 hour days
  • Benefits provided by Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC)
  • Work will be outdoors in rough terrain and under extreme weather conditions
