Job Summary:

You are an experienced Senior Accountant reporting to the Operations Controller, you will be responsible for coordinating the accurate and timely entry and reporting of data in the company financial systems. This includes accounts receivable, subcontract management, payroll, equipment time entry, accounts payable and month end reporting. Interaction and communication with management and project teams are important to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of data.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Understands and supports all aspects of the daily operations in the accounting department including invoicing, accounts payables and accounts receivables.
  • Partners with the business to drive control and accountability into operations while continually providing a high level of customer service.
  • Assist the division’s Finance leaders with the timely coordination and presentation of accurate financial reports and analysis to support the organization in reaching its corporate objectives
  • Assists in the development and instruction of accounting policies and procedures to ensure standardization and compliance
  • Monitors and enforces financial controls and policies
  • Prepares monthly working papers
  • Prepare and upload monthly journal entries
  • Assists with preparation of annual budgets and monthly forecasts
  • Assists with other financial and regulatory reporting (US and Canada)
  • Participates in ad hoc projects and initiatives as they arise


  • 5+ years of progressive, relevant work experience within a complex, dynamic organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact well with a diverse group of internal and external individuals
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reposts
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP, and the ability to identify issues and interpret and apply accounting policies
  • High standard of performance, ability to deal with ambiguity and complexities
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with a very high proficiency in Excel
  • Proficiency in JD Edwards (or a similar large ERP system) an asset
