Job Summary:

You are an estimating professional with 10+ years related industry estimating experience including a variety of complex multi-disciplined projects in the telecommunication sector. As a Senior Estimator, you will be involved in the full cycle preparation and coordination of competitive bids for the Ledcor Technical Services (LTS) group in both the U.S. and Canada. Your leadership style is to support and mentor your team members in their development goals and help them look for opportunities to advance their skills.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversees selection and maintenance of subcontractors, estimating and budgeting management for assigned projects
  • Supervises quantity take-offs, the solicitation of trades and suppliers regarding invitations, addendums, and tender/bid closings
  • Analyzes plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to assist estimating teams in preparation of bid estimates for projects
  • Manages costs and profitability across multiple projects and all aspects of bidding including the development and submission of proposal and pre-qualifications
  • Evaluates and presents or supports the presentation of estimate proposals
  • Prepares conceptual estimates by interpreting historical data
  • Interfaces and communicates effectively (written and oral) with other estimating staff, all levels of management, clients and industry contacts; contacts and develops business relationships with subcontractors and suppliers for pricing within estimates
  • Provides guidance for non-estimating personnel on their estimating related requirements
  • Explores future opportunities pursuant to the business plan, manages bids and leads the team in all estimating opportunities
  • Develop alignment between Ledcor divisions, LTS U.S. and Canada estimating teams
  • Anticipates problems, challenges and proposes innovative solutions and ensures solutions are consistent with the organization’s objectives

Requirements:

  • Completion of post-secondary education with a diploma or degree related to Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Estimating, Engineering or related education
  • Experience in the U.S. Mid-west and knowledge of InEight Estimate would be an asset
  • Technical knowledge of modern construction practices, techniques and equipment
  • Knowledge of construction documents, costs and budgets develop project schedule
  • Strong computer background including experience with related estimating software and MS Office
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, project deadlines and locations and close complex tenders/bids and proposals
  • Ability to identify challenges and is able to look beyond the immediate need to the wider implications and generate solutions
