Job Summary:

You are an experienced Project Accountant with management experience. Reporting to the Operations Controller, you will be responsible for the financial integrity of their project. This includes management of day-to-day accounting administration, cost reporting and audit participation. The role includes staff supervision, mentoring & guidance, training and assisting with hiring and performance reviews. Your leadership style is to support and inspire your team and to achieve their goals.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Liaison between site and office team and industrial relations
  • Ensure compliance to provincial and federal regulations along with any applicable collective agreements
  • Ensures LEMs, invoices and progress claims are created when required and follow process for signatures
  • Troubleshoots issues with project team and facilitates resolution
  • Prepare and perform ongoing performance management and development of Project Accountants and Leads
  • Onboarding, mentoring and development of Project Accountants and Leads
  • Developing client relationships with equivalent peer group/contracts
  • Perform internal audits to ensure project is audit ready
  • Complete performance summary and review with leaders
  • Prepare cost and profitability reporting


  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role and/or a post-secondary business degree
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, able to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Previous experience with construction administration and contract commercial terms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and organization skills
  • Relevant industry and JD Edwards experience would be an asset
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and excellent customer service
  • Flexibility in schedule and travel/transfer to job site, a definite asset
