Job Summary:

You are a Safety Manager with infrastructure and large Civil project safety knowledge and experience enabling and facilitating the work activities of division, region, branch or site HS&E teams. You will be based at a project site and will support the Health and Safety Management System implementation for various Rail & Transit projects in the Toronto area. You’re a team player who ensures the well-being of others and lends a hand where needed. You will develop implement and maintain Health, and Safety systems, practices, and procedures and will be fully versed in ISO standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead HS&E mentoring, training and coaching role of site's Operations personnel
  • Enable and facilitate project site(s) HS&E personnel
  • Oversee the implementation of HS&E program on project site(s)
  • Recommend Senior management on HS&E programs and tactics to enhance the HS&E culture
  •  Support site HS&E and Operations people to understand client HS&E needs to develop PSSP (aligned with Ledcor’s HS&E program) to meet client requirements
  • Plan HS&E teamwork activities with site operations supervisors
  • Solve problems within the HS&E program guidelines for their site(s)
  • Represent Ledcor at client meetings on site level interfaces
  • Participate (with Operations) in the evaluation and selection of staffing, and ongoing performance management processes for HS&E positions
  • Resolve day-to-day or routine issues through immediate actions or short-term planning within defined processes
  • Facilitate HS&E and operations resources to meet short-term and long-term HS&E objectives
  • Set objectives for HS&E employees to achieve HS&E capabilities for their site(s)

Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of experience working in the field as a Safety Manager or Lead in heavy civil, rail, bridge, or tunneling projects in the Toronto area
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent certified technical training
  • Degree in OH&S or related discipline preferred
  • CRSP, CSP or other HS&E designation
  • Must have knowledge of MS office, MS project, P6, AutoCAD and blue beam
  • Ability to perform the HS&E work being supervised and fill in for cross shift or HS&E people shortages
