Job Summary:

You are an experienced and certified Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic who is skilled at mentoring others to ensure the smooth functioning of day to day operations. You will be responsible for implementing the field aspects of project plans and schedules, which includes: quality control, safety and the delegation of work to field staff, contractors and trades. You will drive accountability among your crew and ensure that safe work practices are implemented.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Supervises and provides direction to a crew on specific work tasks and deliverables
  • Ensures that site safety measures meet or exceed the parameters set out by Ledcor's safety manual, Workers’ Compensation Board or any other authorities
  • Provides mentorship and coaching to hourly employees as required to complete the project
  • Assists with maintaining, approving and submitting hourly time cards with all necessary details for job costing purposes
  • Ensures that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications and applicable building codes and that efficiency in labour and materials maintain high quality standards
  • Interfaces with other site personnel, clients or contractors
  • Maintains a daily log

Qualifications

  • Red Seal and/or Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic ticket from a recognized provincial authority
  • 3-5 years of experience managing equipment maintenance crews
  • Must be able to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Valid Driver's License and clear 3-year driver's abstract
  • Ability to plan and manage a project schedule
  • Intermediate understanding of technology, including laptops, tablets and smartphones
  • A strong safety record and a safety-focused mindset
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence (LSE) is highly desired
  • Must be highly organized, and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others

Work Conditions

  • Shift based position working 14/14
  • Camp provided
  • Charter flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary
  • Work is outside in all weather conditions
