Job Summary:

You are an experienced Steep Slope Supervisor who is skilled in both the civil and mechanical installation aspects of pipeline construction. The successful candidates will be well versed in steep slope grade challenges particular to big inch pipe installation.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a crowded, fast-paced working environment, and exercise extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety.
  • Manage the operation of heavy equipment on adverse terrain, in winter operations, and/or near other equipment and power lines.
  • Effectively and safely oversee the grading, trenching and excavation of the pipeline right-of-way from incremental gradients in adverse terrain starting at 15°.
  • Ensure all equipment is correctly and safely tied off and winched.
  • Oversee the pipe installation, welding and concluding backfill.
  • Recognizes existing and potential hazards and knows how to identify these through conducting a field level pre-job hazard analysis, checking for hazards and assessing any tasks before start.
  • Interprets verbal and non-verbal communication (including hand signals) from operators, ground personnel and swampers, and acts accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of supervising a mainline pipeline job or similar experience.
  • Previous experience working on steep slope projects will be highly regarded.
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must hold valid First Aid, Ground Disturbance, PCST, and WHMIS tickets
  • Must have demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Willing to provide a valid driver’s license and abstract.

Work Conditions

  • Site based position - 20 days on, 10 days off or other various shifts
  • Camp based position
