Job Summary:

As the Permitting Manager, you oversee all activities within the Permitting department, including the Permitting staff. You manage a team of Permitting Specialists who are tasked with acquiring telecom permits from local, state, and federal authorities within timelines that meet client expectations.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leads a team of Permitting professionals and provides them with mentor-ship, training and guidance to ensure action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Manages the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of the permitting process from preparation, through submitting and ultimately obtaining of approvals
  • Manages the forecast and holds team members accountable for results, but ultimately is accountable for the results of the team as a whole
  • Act as an escalation point and senior authority for the team when it comes to actively developing and maintaining relationships with regulatory authorities and jurisdictional municipalities in order to obtain approved permits required for telecom projects
  • Engages with external stakeholders when necessary through ongoing relationship building, consistent follow up and advocacy on behalf of the organization
  • Collaborates with internal project team members and leadership to provide clarity around permitting status and what regulatory authorities need to obtain permits


  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized program/post-secondary institution in Business Administration, Construction, Engineering, Law or a related field
  • Two plus years of site acquisition and/or permitting experience
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Demonstrated knowledge in basic project management principles
  • Ability to drive a team to results and maintain schedules/meet deadlines
  • Ability to set strategy and execute it on-time
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Proven experience in developing relationships with regulatory authorities; existing jurisdictional relationships in the local market is highly preferred
  • Experience with design in telecom or utilities, wired and wireless
  • Ability to research, understand and interpret jurisdictional requirements
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to build effective relationships
  • Ability to prioritize assignments and work independently
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio
