Journeyperson / Apprentice Crane Operators

Job Summary:

We are seeking expressions of interest from Journeyperson / Apprentice Crane Operators for our various oil sands projects in Fort McMurray. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating in accordance with quality, safety and efficiency standards. You have previously worked alongside crews within an industrial environment and are a team player who is willing to lend a hand whenever assistance is required to get the job done.


  • Conduct pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections, completes Hazard Assessments, and logs and reports any maintenance concerns with equipment
  • Communicates with assigned crew
  • Fill out and understand an equipment logbook
  • Ensures the safety of the crew, equipment, and environment
  • Ensures that work is completed during regular hours
  • Willingness to learn and be adaptable


  • Must hold an Interprovincial certification from a recognized provincial training authority
  • Must have previous experience working in a civil/ earthworks setting
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
  • Ledcor requires possession of CSTS-09 
  • Valid Driver’s License and 3 Year Driver’s Abstract (within 30 days) required
  • Candidate must be willing to learn how to operate a Sideboom

Work Conditions

  • 14/7 and 14/14 shift rotation working 10-12 hours per day/night are available. 
  • Camp and or LOA options are available provided

  • Work will be outdoors in rough terrain and under extreme weather conditions and in an environmentally sensitive area
