Job Summary:

Summit Air is now hiring for an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with an interest in planning and administration, looking to build your career as a Maintenance Planner. In this role, you will be responsible for performing maintenance planning activities for the organization, taking into consideration operational requirements, staffing, budgeting, and other projects.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Forecasts and develops both long-term and short-term projections for maintenance planning
  • Coordinates parts, materials and tooling as required by maintenance operations
  • Schedules and builds work packages for maintenance tasks, airworthiness directives, service bulletins and Supplemental Type Certifications (STCs)
  • Provides administrative control over maintenance planning, including budgets, forecasted hours, and job costing
  • Coordinates and communicates with flight operations and Mx Control to ensure sufficient operating hours and the scheduling of aircraft out of service


  • 8-10 years’ aircraft maintenance experience; previous maintenance planning experience preferred
  • Current Transport Canada AME licenses M1, M2; or equivalent maintenance planning experience
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance schedules, including maintenance planning documents, schedule approvals, and airworthiness limitations
  • Proficient computer skills with MS Office, aircraft and inventory tracking systems
  • Proven ability to identify and implement improvements to processes, and increase efficiency
  • Familiarity with budgeting and job costing highly preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Previous supervisory experience an asset
  • Must be fully vaccinated and provide valid COVID-19 vaccination record
