Business System Analyst

Job Summary:

You're a Business System Analyst with experience analyzing, documenting and implementing business system and reporting improvements as identified and prioritized by your business. You will ideally have past experience with requirements gathering, documentation, and key elements software testing as it relates to business systems and reporting. In this role, you may also identify, assess, and present continuous improvement opportunities as discovered through requirements gathering, training sessions, Tier 2/3 support on system functionality, and through other relationship channels and stakeholder communications.

Essential Responsibilities

• Liaise with stakeholders to elicit, interpret, and validate requirements for development of business system and reporting functionality.
• Document and present requirements via system and reporting design specifications and as-built documentation, including business case presentations/recommendations for new improvement opportunities
• Perform unit and integration testing on system and reporting development, including User Acceptance Testing sessions to obtain stakeholder approval
• Facilitate system implementation and data migration tasks in support of project management milestones
• Provide ongoing end-user scheduled training, and train the trainer sessions/communications for new system and reporting releases
• Assist with the team’s Scrum activities including facilitating stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and burndown/board reporting
• Provide Tier 2/3 support on business systems and reporting

Qualifications

• 3 – 5 years of experience as a business systems analyst, or data analyst with proven communication and project management skills
• 2 – 3 years of experience designing operational database pipelines involving 3rd party apps, including low-code platforms such as QuickBase
• 2 – 3 years of experience with Python, SQL, and PowerShell scripting considered a strong asset
• Experience in a Scrum agile project management environment preferred
• Expert knowledge of business systems and reporting best practices; ability to translate business requirements into robust system and reporting design specifications
• Familiarity with data modelling concepts and RDBMS best practices
• Telecommunications industry experience, particularly in engineering or construction operations
