You are a Senior Project Controls Specialist that will provide your expertise and support for current and future projects in the areas of planning / scheduling, financial management, progress tracking, change management, and process implementation of various tracking and reporting systems, with the ability to facilitate work on multiple projects simultaneously.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end support for all project controls functions including schedule management, risk management, earned value management, cost & change management on assigned project(s)
  • Supports project teams in overall project management and controls systems implementation in the development, tracking, forecasting, analysis, and reporting of project costs, schedules, and key performance indicators and dashboards
  • Leads preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly progress updates, presentation materials as applicable to project scope, progress, status, change management, contingency, and risk
  • Leads and directs administration of the Project Controls Process on assigned projects and provides guidance, direction, recommendations, and specialized assistance to project teams for the resolution of complex project control problems and best practice courses of action
  • Coordinates and provides analysis on project costs, commitments, accruals, trends, and changes, and recommends corrective action to Project Teams where necessary
  • Assist with the implementation of financial and project controls plans and required process documentation for the Project Teams
  • Supports the proactive identification, evaluation, and monitoring of trends, changes, contingency use, risks, and opportunities in projects
  • Supports the Contract Management and Procurement systems including review and validation of purchase orders and subcontract agreements, subcontractor payment distributions, and other project costs or invoices
  • Lead, mentor and develop other Project Controls team members where necessary

Qualifications

  •  5+ years of experience in similar role
  • Experience with engineering and construction-based cost and scheduling systems (progress and productivity tracking, performance measurement, scheduling, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Project Controls best practice standards and processes
  • Knowledge of end-to-end construction process
  • Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Willing to contribute actively to team activities, sharing experiences and ideas
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, with the proven ability to juggle and reprioritize based on competing business demands
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in interacting with key contacts in verbal, written and electronic form
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office, including the ability to manipulate large amounts of data and perform complex functions within Excel
  • Knowledge of fiber design and construction process is an asset
  • Experience in building Microsoft Power BI reports and dashboards
  • Knowledge of QuickBase, SharePoint, MS Power Apps is an asset
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6 is an asset
  • PMI/AACEI certification is an asset
